Today we enjoyed a light lunch at Arabana House in the company of Ms. Andrea Kelly, the interim First Nations Aged Care Commissioner.
Ms. Kelly will be undertaking several crucial roles with the backing of an office, including:
Leading extensive public consultations with First Nations stakeholders and communities to shape the permanent Commissioner's design and functions.
Contributing to necessary changes aimed at enhancing the aged care system for First Nations individuals across all levels.
Advocating for and promoting culturally safe aged care services for First Nations people throughout Australia.
It was a great opportunity to discuss some of the challenges in the aged care sector, especially for our regional Aboriginal people, and advocate for more support in remote regions such as Marree and beyond.
