This week, our Arabana Rangers had the opportunity to take part in a Fulcrum training session, marking a significant step forward in how we record and document the important work we do across Arabana Country.
Fulcrum is an app/tool that will help the Rangers move away from paper-based recording methods. It allows us to efficiently capture data on everything from cultural sites, springs, and weeds, to monitoring feral and native animals, and even completing vehicle checks. It’s an important tool that streamlines our work and ensures that the information we collect is accurately recorded, all while reducing paper use.
The training session was an invaluable experience for our team, and we want to send a huge thank you to Claire and the team from Right Place GEO for their expertise in guiding us through the Fulcrum platform. We also want to acknowledge the Indigenous Desert Alliance (IDA) for their generous funding, which made this training possible for the Rangers.
It’s great to see that other ranger groups across Australia are already using Fulcrum, and we’re excited to join them in using this tool to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our land and cultural management practices.
By adopting these modern tools, our Rangers are better equipped to protect and manage Arabana Country, continuing the important work of caring for Country, preserving our heritage, and passing on knowledge for future generations.
We look forward to seeing the positive impact this training will have on our Rangers and the projects ahead.
